8 Inch Gravel Sand Pump Dredge Machine for Ghana Customer

Sand dredge machine, also known as sand pump machine,  is widely used to extract sand from river, lake, pond or sea, which is equipped with high pressure water pump and powerful sand pump. The water pump can produce high pressure water to impact the sand layer and splashing the mixed sand around the suction head, and the sand pump extract sand with water and deliver it to long distance.

OCEAN Pump brand sand dredge machine consists of main hull, side pontoons, sand suction pump, water pump, diesel engine, clutch, winch, suction head and pipeline. Among them, sand suction pump unit is the core component. The sand pump will be selected according to the sand productivity that the customer requires, sand quality, discharge distance, height difference, pipe-laying etc. Then match the sand pump with a suitable engine and gearbox or pulley belt device. The side pontoons connect with main hull with bolts and nuts, enable the dredger for easy transportation and assembly. The pipes are all with double flange, we also prepared enough bolts, nuts and gaskets for the connection. The customers can assemble that quickly at worksite.

The dredge machine features integrated design, high efficiency, good wear resistance, flexible operation, energy saving etc. This sand dredger is the most economical sand dredging equipment for loose fine sand. And different types sand dredgers can be customized according to customers’ requirements.

In Jul. 2021, we got an inquiry from a Ghana customer. He planned to start a project of river sand dredging. He knew little about sand dredging, and  he was not familiar with dredger machine. We introduced difference kinds of our dredgers to him, including jet suction dredger, submersible pump dredger and cutter suction dredger. And we also supplied lots of working videos for his reference. After communication, we made clear of the working condition and the customer’s detailed requirements as following:

1. The worksite is at a medium river near sea, so the river is a little salty.
2. Dredge depth: 20m
3. Sand output: 80-100ton/h
4. Discharge distance: 400m
5. The sand is loose sand, but a little course
6. Cummins engine adapted to local climate

Finally, our technology department chose the 8 inch gravel sand pump as sand sucking unit according to the sand type, sand output and discharge distance. Secondly, we calculate the needed engine power and select a suitable Cummins marine engine. In order to improve the corrosion resistance of the dredger hull in salt water, we also painted it with super corrosion resistant paint.

The dredger and 200m pipeline could be loaded into one 40HC container. Because of the pandemic situation, the sea freight of one 40 feet container to west Africa has been more than USD10000. In order to save cost, we suggested the customer to prepare extra 200m pipe from local market. The customer was satisfied with the whole solution and suggestion and arranged payment within one week.

The Cummins marine engine took longer time for production. After 25 days parts preparation, production, assemble and trial running, the dredge machine was ready for shipment. We test running the machine before loading, all the system met the designed requirements. Then disassembled the side pontoons, gantry and roof to meet the container loading. The dredger was shipped successfully at the beginning of August.
