The water pump produces high pressure water to jet the sand and mix the sand with water around the suction head, while the sand pump rotating and drain all the air in the pump and the pipe. Vacuum will be formed in the pump and pipeline, so the water and sand around the suction mouth will be pressed into the pipe by air pressure.

This JSD200-ZS dredger adopts wear resistant 8 inch gravel pump, driven by 280hp high quality WEICHAI marine engine and stable hydraulic clutch. The marine engine supplies power both to sand suction pump and to the water pump. The sand suction pump connected with the clutch directly, while the water pump connects with the diesel engine by pulley and belt. The 5 ton winch for suction head is driven by a single cylinder diesel engine.
